Dilemmas for our developers

Today, we’ll switch to English for our Ukrainian developer, Volodymyr. In this blog, we’re diving into 10 thought-provoking dilemmas that we’ve presented to our developers. Their answers will give us a unique look into their thought processes, decision-making skills, and personal preferences when it comes to tackling real-world challenges. Let’s see how our team approaches these tough choices!

Developer Dillema’s

1. Every commit goes to production VS. deploy once every quarter.

Dennis: Commit goes to production is the best option!

Volodymyr: for me also! I think it is the best to solve issues when you are on fire

2. Never drink coffee again vs never use your favorite editor again

Volodymyr: That is a tough one, but you can change the editor but cannot change the coffee.

Dennis: Yes, exactly. You can always learn a new editor.

3. Python of typescript

Volodymyr: for me it is python, you can do anything with it. I am not a fan of typescript languages.

Dennis: True!

4. Delete the production database vs share your ssh key on social media

Volodymyr: I would say delete the production database haha! The SSH key is private…

Dennis: Yes, I must agree with Volodymyr on this point. But deleting the production database is also horrible. This is choosing between 2 bads.

5. Move fast and break things vs strive for zero errors

Dennis: I would say the first one because you have the prototype, and you can fix the errors later on. You are not from this planet if you don’t have any errors!

Volodymyr: I agree! It is related to the first question, every commit to the production and then you break things.

6. AI or machine learning?

Volodymyr: In the ideal situation I would like to combine these 2. But if I must choose than I chose AI. Machine learning is already old stuff.

7. Remote or office?

Dennis: preferably a combination of both but if I have to choose, office.

Volodymyr: Office! Because of the free coffee and the cheese sticks from the Jumbo!

8. Pair or solo on tasks? -> split up.

Dennis: I would say solo! If you have to dive in then it is easier because the other person cannot work on that same script.

Volodymyr: for me it is working in pairs because you can easily delegate parts you don’t like haha! So it is not you problem anymore!

9. Linux or MacOS?

Both: MacOS! We are bigger fan of MacOS.

10. Being hacked or being DDOSsed?

Volodymyr: Being DDossed for me! Because being hacked you’re screwed 100%. With DDos you can unplug you servers, problem solved!

Dennis: Yes for me it is also being DDossed.
